The Church is at both a Crossroads and a Crisis! It seems like almost daily there is another "exposure" of a leader... it seems that there are very few who have "held on to character, fear of the Lord, common sense and wisdom." Paul would address this in Corinthians... to such a place where evidently Paul was speaking not only about "spiritual fathers" whom you learn doctrine from, but lifestyle as well. It's important to understand that "fathers" are followable, not simply in teaching, but in practice... where they can be "imitated" to follow Jesus.

"Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me." 1 Corinthians 4:15-16

Teachers, leaders, prophets, apostles, evangelists, shepherds can be "a dime a dozen..." but "fathers" are different. They are in for the whole ride to be able to stand at the end not simply to have taught but to become examples to the flock of God. They not only teach through example what it looks like to follow God, they walk in "The Fear Of The Lord" all their days! They've been through the fire and continue... they experience testing and trials... and continue... they resolve to "know nothing except Christ, and Him crucified!" They are the Biblical source of the wisdom of God far more than any counselor can provide.

John speaks to this role of fathering the flock in the context of "Children" ... who have had their sins forgiven, as a new believer would experience. Also, "Young men" (or woman) who are overcoming things in their life through the power of Jesus. (These are those who are enamored with the "gifts" and the "power" and the expressions of the Holy Spirit released in people's lives). And then... then you have "Fathers" ... it sounds simple... but is the most meaningful of the three categories. They "know Him who has been from the beginning!" They carry the "ways of God" not just good theology. They have been "with The Father and live in the Presence of Holy Spirit, not for meetings or sermons... but to simply be filled with His Wisdom, His Joy, His Ways, His Purposes, and His Delight!

I'm excited to be with Surprise and Tryphina Sithole as well as others in MOW like Joe & Celeste Cash who will join me along with incredible worship with MOWBand, Robby Cummings, Alex & Brandi Castello and others....
